Bring the Start Menu Back in Windows 8

Working comfortably at the computer has become usual and customary
today. Every unnecessary step leads to your losing precious time. To
help users avoid spending extra time for useless actions, we have
developed our free utility, Handy Start Menu.

Handy Start Menu simplifies everyday tasks with the Start menu in
Windows XP, Windows 7, and also in Windows 8 Release Preview.

The goal of simplifying the work with the Start menu is achieved with
the following key features:

  • Automatically shortens the list of installed programs. Finding the
program you need in the short list is easier, because all elements are
visible. You don’t have to scroll through the list using your mouse or
type a search query. The list gets shorter thanks to the handy
splitting of all installed programs into categories, such as
“Utilities”, “Office”, “Games”, “Internet”, and so on.
  • Makes launching programs easier. To run an application with Handy
Start Menu, you simply click the folder with its name. The icon of the
folder is identical to that of the application itself. Handy Start
Menu automatically locates the corresponding shortcut when a user
clicks the folder with the program’s name. All other shortcuts (help,
uninstalling, and so on) are not visible, yet are still easily
    accessible.

Thanks to these two capabilities, not only you can easily locate the
program you want, but also instantly run it by clicking the folder
with the program’s name.

In addition, Handy Start Menu allows you to adjust the font size of
the program list, uninstall unnecessary programs, hide unused
shortcuts, and much more.

As you may know, developers have removed the Start menu from the
desktop mode of Windows 8. And you know what? In the new version of
Handy Start Menu 1.60 we have brought it back! Now you can run
programs you need without switching to the home screen. You can work
in the desktop mode with no restrictions, and run applications without
leaving the desktop.

"Habit is a second nature. That is why Handy Start Menu aims to
fulfill the needs of those who have already switched to Windows 8, but
miss the customary Start button,” says Konstantin Polyakov, the
leading developer at Chemtable Software.
